Since humans first reached the stars, there has been a debate over how space exploration and settlement should be regulated. As the possibility of humanity living in space becomes more real, it needs to be decided exactly how access to space will be equal for all countries involved. This committee will explore how space access should be distributed, as well as how developing nations will have to work with developed nations who already have a presence in space. Delegates will advocate for why their country deserves greater rights in space, simultaneously attempting to prevent space domination by any one country. Delegates should be informed on their country's policy toward space exploration, the resources at their country's disposal, and relations (positive or negative) that their country has with other nations.
Margaret Baumgartner is a senior at East Greenwich High School who is very excited to serve as a co-chair of the GA! She has been doing Model UN for two years, and has attended four conferences. Her favorite part of MUN is definitely not speaking, but rather being able to hear other people’s ideas or writing resolutions.
Outside of MUN, Margaret splits her time between school, art, and roller derby. She has won a number of games alongside her team and will be attending the female division playoffs this year. Her art has been featured in multiple art shows, and she is currently taking AP Art. During the summer, she works environmental science jobs, including a position with the Audubon Society of Rhode Island. Margaret is avidly preparing for EGMUN I!
