Set after the passing of the Intolerable Acts by Great Britain, delegates from the thirteen original colonies will meet in Philadelphia to discuss future action. Topics to consider will include whether or not to declare independence from Great Britain, the ethics of westward expansion, and foreign relations with France and Spain. An additional key issue of this committee will be how colonies should support Massachusetts, suffering after the closing of the Boston Harbor. Delegates should be well-informed on the historical circumstances surrounding the convention, as well as the policies and perspectives of the person or group that they represent.

Avi is a senior at East Greenwich High School and has been a member of EGMUN for three years. He has attended numerous Model UN conferences both in and outside New England. Throughout his years at MUN, Avi has grown to appreciate how fun MUN can be, whether it's a Crisis, Spec, or GA. His favorite part of MUN is the unpredictability and creativity that is often prevalent in committees, ensuring that any topic can be taken in a multitude of directions.
Outside of Model UN, Avi is involved in robotics, Science Olympiad, Jazz Band, and numerous other activities. He is very excited to serve as chair of the First Continental Convention Committee, and looks forward to seeing the innovative solutions delegates will create!
Ella is ecstatic about chairing at the very first EGMUN Conference! A junior at EGHS who has been involved in Model UN for two years, Ella has loved improving her problem solving and speech skills through a variety of GA, Spec, and Crisis committees. Her favorite part of MUN is how creative thinking relates to the real world problems affecting her today.
When Ella is not doing MUN, she can be found debating issues from world hunger to whether a hot dog counts as a sandwich. She is also an avid member of her school's Academic Decathlon team and loves playing saxophone, both in her school's jazz band and with friends. Ella is thrilled and eager to help make EGMUN I the best experience possible for all of the delegates!
